Mzuri Group Timeline
With over 40 years’ experience in the window covering industry, Mzuri Group has seen exponential growth, in creating inspiring and future trend window fashion. Creating an environment where like-minded companies can come together and create luxury window coverings.
1979
Our founders, Lynda and Michael Dickson start trading as Decora.
1980’s
The main product offering at the beginning of Decora’s history was Dutch Canopy’s and Folding Arm Awnings, targeted at the Northern Ireland market.
1989
Decora expands its target market to the South of Ireland.
1993
Lynda and Michael’s sons, Stuart and Russell Dickson join the business.
1993
Decora exhibit at their first BBSA trade show targeting the UK window blind market.
1997
Decora launch Timberlux Hand Crafted Wood Collection.
2001
Decora moves to current head office site, which has continued to expand to facilities of 330,000 sq ft in Lisburn.
2004
Alistair Speer, Operations Director, joins the Decora team.
2004
Sunwood is launched to the trade. This new style of production of a wood venetian blind, made wood venetians an affordable product.
2007
30,000sq ft purpose built facilities open, dedicated to the production of the Sunwood Brand.
2009
The first Fabric Box Roller, Vertical, Panel and Roof collection is launched.
2011
Revenue surpasses £25 million.
2011
Jonathan McCluggage, Financial Director, joins Decora.
2014
Birmingham wholesale hub opened to generate next day delivery throughout the whole of the UK.
2016
Revenue hits £55 million.
2018
Mzuri Group is registered.
2018
Revenue passes £72 million
2020
BGF invest in Mzuri Group to support growth and acquisition.
April 2020
Mzuri Group acquires Domus Lumina, a Lithuanian based Manufacturer and retailer.
May 2020
UK e-commerce company Swift Direct Blinds, is acquired by the Mzuri Group.
July 2020
The Dutch online retailer 123 Jaloezie is acquired by the Mzuri Group.
October 2020
Mzuri Group acquires Max Gardiner, a Swedish online retailer.
2020
New State of the art facilities in Birmingham are opened expanding the Wholesale Hub and adding new Customer showroom and training suite.
2020
Decora revenue reaches £90 million.
2021
Mzuri Group launch Avaeta.de, targeted at the German consumer market, offering high quality window covering solutions.
2021
Decora launch new Softcell Collection.
February 2021
Mzuri Acquire TCMM Shutter Group. TCMM, founded in 2002 has become one of the UK’s largest interior wood shutter distributors with an additional operation in the USA under their Shutter Store brand. This acquisition marks Mzuri Group’s expansion of shutter distribution in Europe and the USA.
March 2021
Mzuri Group strengthens its position in the UK blind industry with the acquisition of Tropical Blinds. Established in 1978 Tropical has grown to become a significant player in the UK window blind industry. A highly reputed company, Tropical is known for its made to measure portfolio including key shutter brands such as Austin and Dulwich.
June 2021
Mzuri Group acquires Vako, a leading international manufacturer of window blind systems and accessories.
June 2021
UK e-commerce company Make My Blinds, is acquired by the Mzuri Group.
October 2021
Leading Australian manufacturer and online retailer iSeekBlinds is acquired by the Mzuri Group.
May 2022
Mzuri announces the recent acquisition of Ascend, a progressive innovation agency specialising in digital transformation.
November 2022
Gardin Lis is a long- established business which will further strengthen the Mzuri Group’s presence in Scandinavia and the Nordic region.
